So the UN released its latest Human Development Report. Here are the top 10:
Hmm… So how can a country that has no Universal Health Care (at least at the point where these stats were calculated), no free Universities, a weak unemployment insurance, etc, have a better UN index (which is biased on ‘soft’ criteria in the first place) than super duper advanced contries like Sweden, Canada, Netherlands, Germany… Not to mention France (15th), Denmark (19th) or the UK (26th)?
Even further: How can Ireland be 5th and Italy 23rd? How about Australia, which has been controlled by right wingers for the longest time?
Now, going back to the US: if you consider just how much larger the US population is compared to any of those other 9 countries you see just how incredible these results are. Not to mention immigration, population make up, etc.
And how about the total embarrassment that is the ranking of the New Darling of the World – a.k.a. number 73 – with its amazing array of leaders and potential? Worst than Iran, Peru and Panama! (Just being behind Argentina should be enough shame)
No wonder the American people are finally waking up and sending these stupid politicians who want to make us “more like Europe” back to their ivory towers.
Oh, and just one more thing: Here you can see just how much the whole world has improved since 1980. So much for all the doom and gloom the press loves to push.
