Can you imagine the outrage we would have if this oil spill happened when Bush was President? Man oh man. BTW, I think the criticism against Obama in this case is bogus. It was an accident people. Not everything in this world is under government’s control.
Paulie is losing his mind. His last few posts were trying to prove how life was very good before Reagan came to power. And then, out of the blue, he conceded that Reagan came to power because of the high inflation and the oil crisis we had in the 70s and that we indeed needed to ‘correct’ those problems but not the way Reagan did. However, he tries his best to ignore the obvious results of Reagan’s reforms (see here for good description of how the US compared to other countries during Reagan)
He loves to compare the 70s crisis to the one we have now… But, he thinks the pre-Reagan system never actually failed! And now, what is his solution to the crisis we have now, you ask? To throw away the current system and go back to the way things were before Reagan!
The media is making a lot of noise about Rand Paul’s remarks on the Civil Rights Act. Obviously, people try to challenge his idea of ‘allowing private discrimination’ with the most extreme examples. But there are real life situations where I do think discrimination should be the right of private citizens and companies. For instance, should you be allowed to fire an employee that starts to dress like a drag queen at work? You might think this never happens but in one of my jobs one woman started to dress like a ‘witch’. I am not kidding. It is clear to me that companies should be able to choose employees the same way you choose friends. It is all voluntary action and there is no reason for government to force you to behave in a certain way.
Count to 3 to hear some people calling me racist.
