Some interesting polls about the Tea Party movement and Obama have been published in the last few days.
First, Rasmussen reports that “On major issues, 48% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is closer to their views than President Barack Obama.” That is truly a huge surprise because the message being passed by the mainstream media is that all the people in Tea Parties are right-wing radicals.
But even more surprising, Gallup shows that “Tea Partiers Are Fairly Mainstream in Their Demographics”. This includes age, education, employment and even race!
Now the only question to be answered is: will this translate into a Republican take over? Or will we have a third-party surprise?
Hard to tell, since Steele and his Republicans friends are doing their best to stay on the news. In a bad way. But honestly I think it is nearly impossible not to have a Democrat break down later this year. The health care bill process was just too dirty. Even people who want government sponsored health care are disgusted.
For 2012 the story is different. If Obama continues to push a lefty agenda (illegal immigrant amnesty, carbon limits, activists judges) then he is out. But his latest decisions on oil drilling and a somewhat agressive stance against Iran show that he might try to compromise. If this ‘Clintonization’ continues than he has a good chance of staying, since the Democrat congress will be used as the payment for the health bill debacle.
So it is all really up to Obama. If he continues to be a fringe president, the mainstream will show him the door.
