More Americans Play Video Games Than Go To Movies
“The report said, “the average gamer spent just over $38 per month on all types of gaming content” in the first three months of 2009, adding that “video games account for one-third of the average monthly consumer spending in the US for core entertainment content, including music, video, games.”
Now, some years ago I mentioned the ridiculous difference in price for the XBOX in the US and Brazil due to the massive amount of taxes and tariffs charged in Brazil. I also mentioned how that would totally curb any Brazilian initiative to create jobs around the creation and commercialization of games.
I wonder how big a market needs to be so it is considered mainstream…
One more time, good old protectionists show how forward looking they really are.
