The California Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Lisa Torti can be sued for negligence by Alexandra Van Horn. What did Lisa do you ask? Well, she pulled Alexandra from a vehicle after a violent crash (she was riding in another car also involved in the accident). Alexandra ended up paralyzed and now says this is Lisa’s fault.
You tell me if this is not something directly from “The Incredibles”. Can you imagine if this lady is convicted? What would you do next time you see any sort of accident? Would anyone be crazy enough to try and save someone who can later on sue you because you were not qualified to save people?
According to the California Supreme Court Lisa Torti would be better off had she just walked away from the accident and left Alexandra Van Horn trapped. Do we really want to be this kind of society?
The biggest fear I have from an Obama administration is around the judiciary. Sure he can screw the country economically and militarily, but these mistakes are somewhat easy to correct once a new president/congress takes power. But Supreme Court decisions are written in stone.
What we see now all over California is what we would see all over the country if Obama has a chance to replace even one of the conservative Supreme Court Judges. This idea that everyone is a victim and there is always someone to be sued for any kind of mishap is a recipe for disaster.
I hope this decision goes all the way to the Supreme Court and gets overruled. Quickly.
