Things I can’t stand:
– The “warmth” factor: I don’t know why people have created this fantasy that a president needs to somehow remind people of their best friends. Every time I hear people criticizing Hillary for being cold and impersonal I feel tempted to root for her. I mean, what part of being president these people don’t understand? Why on earth would you vote for someone who is “nice” when your security is concerned? Do people want “nice” policeman, judges or CEOs? This is pure lunacy.
– Lack of historical common sense: Every election is “the most important of our generation”. Whatever issues we face are always “a looming crisis” or worse, an “underestimated emergency”. Remember the year 2000 bug? It is like that every four years, no matter what. How can people still fall for this?
And finally, the most annoying thing about presidential elections is: To see how much people LOVE mommy government.
This is really a sad one. It is deeply depressing to see all the excitement and brouhaha people make about presidential elections. This year is all about “changing”. People are never satisfied. There is no chance that a candidate that would say “you know, I think things are just fine and all we need to do is to get government out of the way” will win. Ever.
Your job sucks? Are you sick? Don’t you have enough friends? Can’t find the Wii? Government can help, yes sir.
People project their life into everybody else’s. No matter how much prosperity we have, people want more and they deeply believe that this magic entity called “THE GOVERNMENT” is the way to make their life better.
