The guy (Ronaldo) is good, very good. Hence since he can pass and drible so well defenders cover him, usually one is not enough and that in itself makes a difference.
Obviously there is always a coach that will strategize one defender against Ronaldo because he is out of shape and so forth, the problem is that the guy has so much talent ( he is ambidextrous and his drible has not suffered from age) that he will undo the sole defender and score ( notice his goal againt Santos in the Paulista final) or create an opportunity for a team mate.
Claudio says that when Ronaldo plays Corinthians seems to lag as if they have only one man in front, he is right because when Ronaldo does play he is really the only man in front but unless you stick two competent guys on him Ronaldo will create opportunities for two midfielders or one frontman a bit behind (small tooth= Dentinho) and a midfielder ( the play can be created by Ronaldo thru a pass either from right or left ) and allow them to score or pass amongst themselves and score.
That is the genius.
