He is no red neck
After Katrina, the mainstream press focused the blame on Bush. The real villain though, was Democrat Louisiana Governor’s Kathleen Blanco. Most of the emergency procedures are handled on a state level and Blanco’s incompetence was pretty remarkable.
The confirmation of everything I just said came now, with the election of Piyush “Bobby” Jindal.
Yes, folks, he is a Republican that was serving as a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Louisiana’s 1st congressional district, who will be replacing a bleeding heart Democrat in a state that just went through the biggest natural tragedy in American history.
Aren’t Democrats the one party that is supposed to help you during hard times?
Ah, another “small” detail: Jindal is the first non-white governor of Louisiana since Reconstruction and the first Indian American (he is the son of Indian immigrants) governor in U.S. history.
Funny, I thought those red neck Republicans in the South were all ignorant racists!
Piyush “Bobby” Jindal, 36 years old, will take his oath as governor on January 14, 2008. Just another reminder that the supposedly dead American dream is alive and kicking.
It is refreshing to hear somebody understand that the state and local government is the first defense in an emergency.
Too many people are willing to ceede more and more power to the federal government.
FEMA didn’t do a good job either and mistakes were made, but it was already hopeless when FEMA came in due to the lack of action by the local government.
